5 Holiday RV Tips for Traveling Over New Year’s

Are you traveling for New Year’s in your new or used RV? Here are some holiday RV tips to make the most of your travels at this time of year!

RV Tips

RV Service Before You Go

Having the ability to travel year-round and in any season or climate can be amazing and fun – but it’s essential that your RV stays in road-ready condition. Contact us to schedule some RV service with us before you go. We can check the heating system, plumbing, electrical systems, tires, and anything that needs repair or replacement so that you can travel with peace of mind.

Plan Your Route – and Your Backup Route

You will definitely want to plan your route in advance, taking into account the weather conditions and potential road closures. Be aware of any RV-specific restrictions on certain roads. And it’s a good idea to have a backup route plan in case inclement weather makes road conditions poor or even impassable.

Make Reservations in Advance

Don’t wait until you arrive to make a reservation of any kind – whether at an RV campground or a restaurant! Make reservations ahead of time to secure a spot. You’ll be glad you did – especially when you arrive to a warm welcome!

Pack for Cold Weather

Your RV may have a fireplace – which is a wonderful feature to have during the winter months! – but you can still boost the inside temps with a few well placed items like a portable space heater in the bunkhouse or Master bedroom, and electric mattress pads on each bed.

Decorate and Celebrate!

Add a celebratory touch to your RV by bringing along some great New Year’s décor! String lights on the awning are always fun, and our kids love putting up holiday window clings and gelly stickers to add an inexpensive touch that doesn’t take up loads of room.

For New Year’s Eve, put out a fun storebought charcuterie board (or assemble one yourself!) or other finger foods and pop some bubbly! If you imbibe, drink responsibly…otherwise, enjoy sparkling ciders and juices. Make sure to abide by any regulations at campgrounds or find out if they have any New Year’s Eve-specific rules.

With proper planning and preparation, traveling in an RV over New Year’s can be a memorable and enjoyable experience. Safe travels!
