Pokegama Dam Campground
Run by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, just a few minutes west of downtown on the Mississippi River near Pokegama Lake. It offers 19 spacious electric back-in sites (30/50-amp) that accommodate large RVs, plus a couple of primitive tent sites. Amenities include flush toilets, showers, a dump station, boat ramp, playground, fish-cleaning station, picnic tables, and fire rings under mixed hardwoods and tall red pines. Strong river and lake access for walleye, northern pike, bass, and panfish.
Two Rivers RV and Campground
About 1–2 miles from Grand Rapids in La Prairie, nestled at the confluence of the Mississippi and Prairie Rivers on 50 wooded acres. It has 49 large electric back-in sites (20/30/50-amp) with fire rings and picnic tables. Amenities include showers, flush and vault toilets, a dump station, playground, walking trails along bluffs with river views, shore fishing, and paddling access. Pet-friendly and close to town for restaurants and services.
Prairie Lake Campground
A short drive north of Grand Rapids on Prairie Lake. This family-friendly park has about 55 shaded sites, including many with full or partial hookups. Features a swimming beach with raft, boat docks and launch, canoe and paddleboat rentals, playground, restrooms with coin-operated showers, a recreational lodge and snack area, dump station, and solid fishing for panfish and northern pike. Open roughly May–October.
Schoolcraft State Park
Roughly 25 minutes west near Deer River. A quieter, more rustic option with around 28 primitive (no-hookup) sites that can take RVs up to about 40 feet, set among old-growth red and white pines along the Mississippi River. Amenities include vault toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, fire rings, and river boat access. Reservations available through the Minnesota DNR system.
Chippewa National Forest
Including the Marcell and Suomi Hills areas and other nearby forest campgrounds or dispersed sites. Head a bit farther for additional lakefront or forested options with boating, kayaking, hiking, berry picking, and excellent wildlife viewing. Many spots offer a mix of developed sites with hookups and more primitive experiences.
